Auditions for LIYO @ 7PM EST TONIGHT!

Ran over to school this morning for FM orientation, and to get a critique from my conductor. It was the first time he’s heard me play since our spring concert last year. :)

Soo, I played. For him and our Glee Club teacher. And it was really funny because I was genuinely nervous. Which is funny because, I’ve gotten to the point in my skill level where I know I’m better than everyone around that I don’t get nervous anymore.

Which MAY sound stuck up. But I’m really not. It’s just a fact.

And I say that because my orchestra barely has it’s shit together until opening night and because I’m section leader of the violas. Violas meaning 3 violas, including me.

So I can say that, and actually mean that. Because it’s a fact and everyone knows it.

Lol. I’m sorry. That’s just the way it is (things will never be the same)

BUT BACK TO THE STORY:

I played. And because I was nervous I fucked up. And was “GGRRR” in, which they laughed at. But I was pissed. So I sent a mental wave of “FUCK YEAH BE A MAN. FOCUS TESSIE” and hahah stopped fucking up.

So when I finished, my conductor was like mind fucked. Hahaha Honestly! I was expecting him to be like “Uh… It was okay….” BUT he was all like “Whoa! I’m impressed! Your intonation was on point!”and all ” You’ve really improved! I’m shocked. Dramatically!” and our glee club teacher was all ” Haha yeah. So good. So good” so that was funny.

But honestly, last night I was freaking outttt, because I’ve been preparing for this day since last September. So I went all Rocky-styled and shit. So it felt really good to have the Conductor-seal of approval.

I feel like now, I can go in and preform my best and not be freaking out 4343943278x. Don’t get me wrong. I’ll still be freaking out. But like not so much. Hehe.

I’m really glad I’ve improved though. I mean for like a quick song of maybe 3 minutes for them to be so blown away. Man! I can’t wait to show off my mad skills when we get our winter pieces!!! Hahah!! FUCK YEAH VIOLA LESSONS!

Long Island Youth Orchestra.

It’s been a week and day since I audition and still no response back.

The conductor said I should contact them if they don’t get back to me right away but I don’t want to see over zealous. Tomorrow, I’m going to go in and ask my conductor when is a good time to call them to find out.

God. Please. Anybody. Buddha. Ghandi. Whoever.

Pleaseeee tell me I’ve made it in.

Everybody under the SUN knows how much this means to me and how much I’ve sacrificed for it.

CONFESSION TIMESSSZZZX

Okay!! With me being in LIYO this year. I’ll be on the C.W. Post campus a lot. Which is the college my conductor went to. So I’ll be potentially roaming the same campus he did, practicing in the same rooms he did, and finally performing on the same stage he did.

Not to mention that I’ll be interacting with the same professors he did. Which actually, still remember him due to his prodigy-ness back in college.

So basically, I feel like I’m his kid and everyone will be judging his skill level through me. Since I am his part of his first generation of students.

I don’t want to show up and be like shit. Sigh.

Like.

I hope his teaching reflects in my playing because it would look really bad on him if I ended up being a shitty violist.

LIYO

At the first rehearsal we will all begin by sight reading a piece that will be quite playable at sight to get things started. After that, and in the following rehearsal, you will be reading music, some of it more challenging, as we make decisions regarding what pieces are to be included in our first concert in early December. Once these decisions are made individual parts will be made available to be taken home for practice first to all string players and shortly thereafter to woodwinds and brasses.

IDK if you can read that. But I’ll type it out.

On my junior year planner. During my 2nd stage of musical Renaissance. I created a inspiration cover on my planner. It had quotes from my friends, composers, and my conductor. It also had important musical stuff like the circle of fifths and key signatures etc.

But one personal thing it had was my “To Do list.”

1. Get into LIYO

2. Get into All-State

3. NYSSMA Lvl 4

4. NYSSMA duet

5. Learn Sax.

6. Become a conductor

7. Be a solo violist.

So reading thru my old planner. I came across it, and thought it was really funny how I actually did the stuff on my list. Apart from becoming a violist, All state, and NYSSMA duet. But 4/7 ain’t too bad. Not too shabby at all!
